The Chaldean Church condemns what happened in Olympics
What happened at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics is shameful and a ridicule of the Christian religion, hurting the faith and feelings of more than two billion and a half Christians around the world. It reminds us of violating Islamic religion by burning the Quran in Sweden. These heinous acts are completely unacceptable and the Olympics image does not shine with.
Secularism, as it presents itself, is not hostile to religions, but rather respects everyone, (believers and non-believers), which supposed to be a positive thing.
The principles of the Olympic Games aim to bring people together in love, respect and cooperation, not the OPPOSITE.
Patriarch Cardinal Louis Sako, as a head of the Chaldean Church, bishops, daughters and sons of this Church, stands with the Church in France and its Assembly of Bishops against this insult to a sacred religious symbol.
